Diedra Wrighting, Ph.D.

Diedra Wrighting is a scientist and educator dedicated to creating environments that foster community, belonging, and persistence. As Executive Director of ADVANCE Office of Faculty Development at Northeastern since 2019, she collaborates across the university to create dynamic and impactful programming that assists faculty to thrive. Certified by the Center for the Improvement of Mentored Experiences in Research and the National Research Mentoring Network, Diedra facilitates workshops for faculty and developed a course for undergraduates that promote awareness of identity and culture that fosters a sense of belonging and ultimately career persistence for aspiring researchers of diverse backgrounds. In 2020 Diedra become a founding member of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee and The Coalition for Equity in her town and school district. In these roles, she is working to use her six years of facilitation experience to foster community building across cultures to increase the sense of belonging for community members. Diedra holds a B.S. in Biology from Howard University and a Ph.D. in Genetics from Harvard Medical School.
