Dr. Kathrin Zippel, Professor of Sociology has been awarded the Humboldt Alumni Award for her research in gender bias’s impact on international collaboration in scientific research.  She has found that while women based at U.S. institutions benefit from the perception of American universities as the “gold standard” of research, women from other countries find themselves doubly disadvantaged by both gender bias and bias towards international institutions.  As she focuses on new projects, Dr. Zippel’s work continues to investigate the impact of gender bias on faculty careers.
