Faculty Senate Distinguished Service Award

Description

The Faculty Senate Office is pleased to announce the establishment of the Faculty Senate Distinguished Service Award, a new annual recognition that honors exceptional contributions to shared governance through outstanding service in the Faculty Senate.

Award recipients will have demonstrated a commitment to service through the Northeastern faculty senate. They may have done one or more of the following, at a scope and depth appropriate to their role:

  • Introduced senate resolutions, or led discussions, within the faculty senate that create value for the Northeastern community.
  • Participated in or chaired a senate committee that has created a significant, positive impact for the faculty of Northeastern.
  • Raised awareness of internal or external issues with current or future impact on Northeastern’s faculty and staff.
  • Facilitated effective communication between the Faculty Senate and their unit, ensuring awareness and engagement with key issues

Eligibility

This award recognizes distinguished service during the academic year. Any full-time faculty member who served as a faculty senator or on a faculty senate committee during that time is eligible.

The awardees from the previous three years are ineligible to receive this award.

The Faculty Senate forms an Award Committee to review nominations and choose awardees. Committee members are ineligible to receive this award, and they do not nominate others.
